Folder The Anthropocene Reviewed - Our other book

The paper inside this folder has brief summaries of some of the more relevant chapters, really short stories, in the book.  Access these stories at the link below.  Only one person on the BSC campus can look at them at one time so don’t leave your computer on them for hours.  If you can’t get to the book using the link it is probably because someone else is on it, so just try again later.  You may use any of the chapters in the book that you want, but the ones that aren’t on this list didn’t seem to relate much to LOS.

Week 14 Nov. 22 updated schedule Folder Information and Instructions for Assignment 5

Here are files you need to complete Assignment 5.
We have been using  "Odyssey Plan Prompts edited" in class for the last 2 classes.  It is how you are going to plan your major at BSC and your life of significance.  Think about what you want to do with your life and talk about it with friends and family.  Then fill out the plans on pages 2 and 3.   There are 3 plans (rainbow, clover and unicorn) and you should fill out each one with one of your ideas for living the LOS you want to.  Start each one by giving that specific life plan a 6 or so word title (like "High School History Teacher/FB Coach") on the line on the top right.  Just below that you should fill in 3 lines with several questions about what you might learn about yourself following this plan (will I be happy living in a big city in another state?) or what you might learn about life in general from following this plan (Is it possible to go to graduate school and start a family at the same time?) or what you might learn about that career (are accountants really boring?).  You can put the questions and title below if you are working on it as a Word.doc rather than printing it out and writing by hand.  Then you should fill out the boxes 0 - 5 with the steps you would have to go through to get to the end of that life plan.  Box 0 in most cases will contain "Get a _______ degree from BSC."  and Box 5 should contain the 6-word title for this life plan.  Put the curricular/job/certification things you have to do in the boxes in order of when they will be accomplished "go to graduate school," "take CPA exam," "get job as volunteer assistant coach," "do internship," but also put in co-curricular things you need to do or want do in this life plan ("move to big city," "get married and start family," "live on a houseboat," etc.).  Fill this out for 3 different life plans you are considering as explained on the sheet.  This is a worksheet that is building up to Assignment 5. I also attached the Assignment 5 Instructions so that you can read about what we are heading towards.  Fill out the "Odyssey Plan Prompts" sheets and bring to class on Tuesday.
I also attached the "Odyssey plans worksheet."  This is an Excel spreadsheet that we are going to fill out with all of the classes you have to take to earn the degree you expect to get for each of the three Life Plans.  You can find out what classes are needed for each major by going to the College Catalog (available on the BSC web page) the Moodle Advising Page, Self-Service and your academic advisor. It would be a good idea to get started and make progress on this before class on Tuesday because we only have 2 more classes
