Introduction to ED 219 Creative Arts in Teaching
Course Description: Provides pre service teachers with techniques for integrating music, art, drama, and movement into classroom instruction in grades K-6. Additionally, helps students understand how children develop artistically. Additionally, this class is designated as a Creative Expression (CE) class.
Prerequisite: At least one year of college course work.

Class Meetings
You will have access to ED 219 Creative Arts in Teaching On-line class beginning June 8th. This course will be delivered asynchronously. All of the information for the course can be found in the course Moodle page. Please remember that Moodle allows me as the professor, to monitor your time spent in Moodle and allows me to monitor which sections you have used. This course is designed to teach the same material you would learn if you were a student in a face-to-face class during a regular 14-week term. Clearly, the same work must be completed in an abbreviated time. Establish the habit of spending time each day in the Moodle ED 219 Creative Arts in Teaching classroom just as you would if you were taking the class face to face. Required Texts
The text for this class will be Arts Integration in Elementary Curriculum (Zhou, M. and Brown, D.; 2018). This is a text you can access from the internet through Education Open Textbooks and is free. The link is provided below.

The course will require the reading of additional articles relevant to the topic as well as viewing/listening to a variety of multi-media presentations. These additional sources will be provided for you within the course learning Modules.Required Supplies
You will need to have some materials to complete the class. These are:
- black permanent marker
- colored markers
- masking or painter's tape
- cardboard
- a marble
- model magic sculpting clay
- scissors
- tape
- straws
