Use the link below to learn about the CITI training course and to access the BSC CITI New Learner Account Registration document. Remember that psychology research is an example of "Social and Behavioral Research".
Once you have successfully passed each of the ethics quizzes (with a score of 80%), you should save the PDFs indicating your successful completion of the courses. These PDFs will need to be submitted with your IRB applications later in the semester. (But let's take care of the CITI course now before things get too busy!)
Upload your completion documents here on Moodle. Please include your first and last name in the file name. Thanks!
Please upload to Moodle a Word document (one per group) that describes TWO possible research questions and expected answers (hypotheses) that you are interested in investigating, as well as an initial rationale for your hypotheses. You do not need to have a full defense of your hypothesis with all the required literature cited; just give me a rough idea of why you are predicting what you are predicting. Your literature search in the coming days and weeks will determine your final predictions.
If I already provided feedback on an idea in your thought paper, make sure that what you turn in for this assignment has progressed in a few different ways since writing your thought paper. e.g., maybe your hypotheses are a little clearer, or have a better rationale. maybe you comment on why your research is "interesting."
Dr. Valenti will provide feedback and direction on these ideas, to help you move forward with selecting a final idea.
Applying for IRB approval is great practice for graduate school. However, not every student project that is completed as part of a class requires IRB approval. Check out the link below and, with your group members, assess whether your project requires and/or you would like to apply for IRB approval. Then bring your decision to Dr. Valenti and we can discuss.
The documents below are to help you draft your study procedures. Please look through all of them before you get started on your own drafts, so that you know what resources you have available to you here. Not every document will be relevant to all of your studies. Please ask if you have questions about what anything means.
