SN300: Advanced Conversation
This is an intensive audio-lingual practice course. Both in the classroom and language laboratory outside of classroom will enable students to practice conversational Spanish skills, perform oral reports and discussion groups. Prerequisite: SN 270, 280, or consent. Fall.
Course activities will incorporate the three modes of communication: interpersonal, presentational and interpretive. By the end of the course, successful students should:
- feel significantly more self-confident when expressing themselves in Spanish using all three modes of communication: Presentational, Interpersonal and Interpretive
- have a greatly increased vocabulary in Spanish and be able to use it accurately when facing not only a variety of everyday situations but also unexpected complications.
- be able to conduct conversations in Spanish that show increased sophistication in connected discourse using a variety of verb tenses and grammatical structures.
- show improvement in their ability to understand native speakers of Spanish speaking at normal speed.
- attain an increased level of comfort and ability with the language that should prepare them to continue successfully with the advanced sequence of coursework in Spanish.
