Final Project - Climate Change and Water

Completion requirements
Opened: Friday, 10 April 2020, 12:00 AM
Due: Thursday, 7 May 2020, 10:00 AM

You will be placed in teams of 2 to develop your final project. The project will consist of developing a significant climate change issue/threat associated with the a watershed of your choice, conducting a literature review on the issue, incorporating GIS mapping, and presenting your project to the class. This project will help students to relate and apply knowledge gained during the semester. You are responsible for developing a final paper and presentation thoroughly covering your chosen climate change topic for the watershed of your choice. See attached documents for grading rubric and paper/presentation examples.

In organizing your paper, you should include the following components:

  1. Introduction - this section should be a thorough description of your chosen issue and watershed. State the problem, explain the background on the issue, explain why this problem is important in general, and how it is a problem for the region.

  1. Methods - this section should explain in detail how you researched your topic. Explain from whom/where you received data, how current your data is, what GIS layers were used, etc. Remember not to include minute, insignificant details.

  1. Results/Discussion - this section should thoroughly discuss what you found regarding your topic. This can include projections as well.

  1. Conclusions - include limitations to your research (is your data outdated? Is the available data inaccurate? Is there not enough research? etc.) What do your findings mean about your topic? What solutions could be implemented to mitigate for and/or adapt to this issue?

Your presentation should mimic the organization of your paper and include significant pictures/graphs/visual aids. Your presentation should be clearly delivered, organized, and capture your audience’s attention. Presentations should be pre-recorded, and if conducted separately between you and your partner, be sure to splice the 2 parts together to create one cohesive presentation. You can do this in Screencastomatic - let me know if you need help.
