The Greek Gods ES

 1) Watch  and read the Close Reading Handout. 

2) Choose a passage (ca. 10 - 30 lines) from an ancient text we have read (Homeric Hymn to Aphrodite, Odyssey Hymn to Aphrodite, Sappho poem, or Lucretius' Proem), and do a 2-3 page close reading of it. Print the entire passage at the beginning of the page (and give the citation), then  work through steps 1 - 4 of the handout on close reading.The writing for this assignment does not need to be polished, it can even be bullet points, but THE IDEAS need to be good and thoughtful (ca. 500 words).
