September 3 - Critical Thinking
Read the article entitled "Bosses Seek Critical Thinking" in the file above. Next, review the PowerPoint presentation entitled "Critical Thinking."
The PPT presentation suggests that in order to think critically, we need to begin by applying a theory. The last slide asks you to consider a series of questions regarding Price Theory (you may need to conduct some research to answer these questions).
Read the two other articles from The Wall Street Journal linked above. Both of these articles address the issue of price gouging, which is a very emotional issue for many people. Most, if not all states, have laws that protect consumers against price gouging, especially during natural disasters. Following disasters, the popular press typically includes reports of much higher than normal prices for such things as gasoline, hotel rooms, bottled water and other supplies.
What does critical thinking mean to you? What are your thoughts on price gouging? Think critically! Should it be allowed? Why or why not? Provide evidence to support your arguments.
Your paper should be typed, double-spaced, no longer than two pages, including a heading and your name. Submit your paper below, saved as a word document, no later than 6 p.m., Friday September 3.
