Group Project 2

Completion requirements
Opened: Tuesday, 22 February 2022, 12:00 AM

For your second group project, you are going to be provided with a song that you will write a short story for. This can be thought of as a music video with dialogue, and possibly foley sound. This means the story will be something that you can fit into the length of a song. The short story should be roughly the length of the song even if you choose not to use the audio of the entire piece of music. Just keep in mind there will need to be dialogue.

Another approach could be to film something that incorporates some of the music into the story. This might be used in a specific scene as background music (Diegetic Sound), or on the other hand the song could be used to tell part of the story. This could be done by using the song as a score to what is happening on screen (Non-Diegetic). You can also use the music diegetically and then transition to using it non-diegetically within your story (Trans-Diegetic).

The goal of this project is to bring to light how music may evoke different feelings depending on the images on the screen. The song may take on an entirely different meaning than the one intended by the musical artist. The music will likely lead each of you to different creative places and you will need to work together as groups to decide how to achieve your intended goal.
