Podcast reflections: What do good interviewers do?
For each topic below, identify and explain at least one example from each interview.
1) How did the interviewer make the subject feel comfortable? How did they build rapport or ease into the interview? How did they move from easy or light-hearted questions to the tough ones?
2) Identify a place where the interviewer helped the subject dig deeper into their answer (e.g., when the interviewer asked follow-up questions that helped the subject reveal more about a topic). How did the interviewer prompt the subject to say more? Were they pushy or considerate? How did the subject respond?
3) Was the interviewer a good listener? Why or why not? Point to specific moments where they listened carefully to the subject or did not listen well. How did that affect the questions they asked?
