BSC Website Scavenger Hunt
BSC Scavenger Hunt – Due on Moodle by 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 22
Today you’ll focus more specifically on how you’re going to achieve your goals and become the person you want to be over the next four years at BSC. This exercise is about exploring options. You’ll be using resources on the BSC website to find groups you might join, classes you might take, and services you might use. Specifically, you should identify:
· 5 co-curricular activities (including athletics and Greek life) that you might participate in.
· 2 potential majors. Remember that things don’t always go according to plan! Take this major quiz if you don’t know where to start – you’ll get a list of 10 potential options.
· 3 classes that fulfill General Education requirements and look interesting to you. These should be classes you want to take, not classes you have to take. What are you curious about? What seems fun?
· 3 opportunities offered by the Krulak Institute that you might participate in.
· 3 ways you might explore or prepare for a future career. (Think shadowing, interning, finding a mentor, talking to alumni, doing a certain type of E-term project, talking to faculty.)
· 1 minor, just for fun! Choose something you’re genuinely interested in.
· 3 ways that you’ll take care of your mental and physical health over the next four years. These could be taking advantage of resources at BSC or doing something on your own, like hiking or getting enough sleep.
· 3 people (faculty, staff, or student leaders like RAs) that you can go to about any of the above. Who can you talk to when you’re struggling? When you don’t know what to major in? When you want to join a club but worry about managing your time?
You will need:
· Your exercise from last class about who you want to be
· Your timeline from the homework assignment
· Your laptop
What to do:
For each item above, you will complete the chart below.
Use the list of resources below to help you choose your options; information for each of them can be found on the BSC website.
Refer to the timeline you made to see how these activities and classes will fit into your next four years, and to make sure you are considering your plans B and C.
Most importantly, refer to Tuesday’s in-class exercise about who you want to be to answer the questions in the last box.
