Papers with Interviewing Tips

These are papers that contain interviewing tips from people who are professionals.  

Group Exercise on how to do interviews

Tuesday class - 3-4 students per group; look over articles that contain interview tips

Students collaborate on making 5 – 10 max slide .ppt or google slide presentation during and after class

How to create engaging slides

o   No full sentences

o   Use bullet points & abbreviate

o   Make font bigger than you think it should be.

o   Then make it bigger again.

o   It may look great on your laptop or desktop or tablet but try to look at it on the screen you will be using for a presentation.  Font won’t be big enough.

o   Don’t put too much on any one slide.

o   Put pictures on slides, but avoid pictures with too much information/detail.

o   Summarize, summarize, summarize. Only give the key points.

Instructor gives example presentation from LinkedIn article

Next class: Groups present 3-5 min.

End of next class discuss what we remember from any of the presentations; make list of what worked well and what needs improvement
