Hey there,

My name is Alexandra Shull! I am a junior collaborative education major. I am from Homewood, Alabama, and have lived here my whole life. I love the fact that I live close to home and have had the opportunity to shadow in schools where I could potentially teach at. I see myself teaching grades 2nd-4th in an over the mountain school. I have a heart for children and helping others. In my free time, I am a nanny and spend lots of time with kids.

Something cool about myself is that I am a fraternal twin. My sister and I are super different, but that makes us close.  If money and time were no object, I would love to go to Europe and Asia and explore all the hidden gems. I think the coolest part of traveling is seeing the famous places, but my favorite part is finding the small hole in the wall places where local people hang out or things that tourists don’t typically see. I love to travel with my family, so this would be a new adventure to go on. I enjoy all kinds of weather, so I am not bias to cold or warm places to travel.

I have taken several classes in UES to fill my education science requirements. During this time, I have thoroughly enjoyed learning more about how the things we do in our daily life impact both the abiotic and biotic aspects significantly. I am excited to learn more about infectious disease because it a more focused part of the biotic component of science. I think I will have a lot of ways to grow in this class as I learn about different aspects of infectious diseases.

I look forward to reading this book and this e-term!!

Hey Alexandra, I am also a fraternal twin! Me and my brother are extremely different, but he's my best friend. I agree that living in the Birmingham area is very helpful when shadowing in schools! I have enjoyed getting the opportunity to see the different schools in our area. Shadowing in schools in this area has opened my eyes to what we will be walking into after graduation. We have been so blessed to have such a great college and education department. I am so thankful that we have been lucky enough to shadow in some amazing schools in the Birmingham area.

I also have a big heart for children! I want to be Pediatrician. I think you will make a great teacher. That's really cool how you and your twin are different makes you both unique in your own way. I really hope you get to travel to Europe one day it is awesome. I lived in Italy for four years and the scenery and food was amazing. There was so many hole in the wall family restaurants there you would enjoy. I also am interested in science and diseases because my dad works at the CDC. Has always interested me how fast diseases spread and their starting point.

There are so many careers that are based around working with young people. This is something that I did not really recognize before. I believe we need people with a kind and patient hearts to work with young kiddos. As for Italy, I actually have family that lives there. My mom's sister married a man from Italy. I have family in Milan. The scenery is truly like no other. I would love the chance to live there in the summer. My parents have always encouraged me to visit new places so going to teach abroad is something I would be interested in! When you lived in Italy did you have the chance to get a new or varying perspective of different world problems such as infectious disease?

Hey Alexandra!!! I took my first UES course with you this past seamster and loved it! Nice use of the vocabulary we learned by the waysmile Anyways, I also enjoy finding hidden gems when traveling. Sometimes the famous places are too busy and it is fun to go down the road less traveled and find cool quaint little areas. We should travel together sometime and explore together! I also spend lots of time with kids in my free time like babysitting etc. That is so cool that you have a twin! I am closest with my sister that is most different from me so I can totally relate to that. I'm excited to be in another class with you!!

Hi Alexandra, I really enjoyed reading your forum post. I feel like I know you so much better and learned a lot about your background. I totally agree with the points you brought up about the dream vacation. I would much rather go see something that is interesting and smaller that not many people have seen that I would go visit the major tourist spots. And I am sure there is so much of both of those things throughout Europe and Asia. Your major also sounds very interesting, I’d love to learn more about education science. Thank you so much for sharing, and I look forward to being in class with you this semester.

Hey, Alexandra Shull!
Thank you for sharing your fantastic story. Your introduction describes you as a whole. We lived in the same freshmen hall, and you were always that person who put smiles on others' faces, offering help with a loving heart. I don't know if you remember that, but I do. My freshman year wouldn't be the same without you.
I was so happy to find out that you want to be a teacher, your characters will make an excellent teacher. Kids will love you. That's unique of you that you like to visit the small and unexplored tourist places, which means that you see big things from little things.
I have identical and fraternal twins siblings. It is always great to see how unique and creative of the fraternal twins can be, and that doesn't get in the middle of their friendships.
I wish you well in your studies and life after college!
