Hi Everyone!! My name is Emma Clare Johnson! Some people call me EC or ECJ but most everyone calls me Emma Clare. I am from Homewood, Alabama which about 20 minutes away from Birmingham Southern! My major is Collaborative Education where I hope to graduate and find a teaching job either in the Birmingham area or possibly in a new city. I have not decided whether or not I want to teach in an Urban Ed School or do Special Ed. Hopefully, over these next few semesters, I will get a better idea of what I want. In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with my friends, eating at new restaurants and running. My mom and I are running the Mercedes Half Marathon in February which I am very excited about!

I came into school as a Biology Major and decided that that was not where I was meant to be. I have taken several Biology classes and only need .5 of credit to fulfill the requirements for the state department to become a teacher. I am super excited about this class and hope that it opens my eyes to new diseases that are being found as well as ones I am not aware of. I also hope to learn about cures for these diseases and the progression of cures that have been made over time. Topics that we will be learning in this class I find very interesting, so I am excited to dive deeper and learn something new about ideas that I am not aware of!

One neat thing about my life is that I am a triplet. I have two brothers and their names are Bishop and Reed. Bishop attends The University of South Alabama and is currently in Nursing School. My other brother Reed has Cerebral Palsy and lives at home with my parents. He does a Dual Program between Samford University and Homewood High School where he attends college classes a few days a week. I have a chocolate lab named Bella and she is about to turn 10 years old. She is my favorite!

If money and time were no object, I would want to travel to Banff, Canada. I have seen pictures of people traveling and skiing there and it looks absolutely beautiful. I have never been skiing and feel like this would be a super fun place to ski for my first time! I also love to be outdoors and would love to see the Banff National Park. If I ever get to travel there I hope that I would get the chance to run through the national park and take in all the beautiful views.

I have a lot of respect for you in possibly teach special ed. That take someone with a big heart and a lot patience. My cousin is special ed. and I love him to death and I know the struggles he has in his daily life, and for people to be willing to help other kids like him is very special. I'm also very interested to learn about the process of finding a cure for all these new and developing diseases in today's society. I've also never been skiing as well and that is something I really want to do.

Hi Emma Clare, it is so interesting to see how you started out thinking you wanted to go into the medical field but changed over to education. When I was little I always thought I wanted to be a teacher growing up but in high school I found my love for the medical field when I became CNA certified. Although, I think teaching is a great profession and you seem like the person for the job. Also, I seen you mentioned you've never been skiing before and neither have I so hopefully I'll get to travel somewhere like this fun place to do it for my first time too. I'm so happy to have you in this class and can't wait to get to know you better as the term goes on.
