My name is Abby Findlay, and I am a sophomore Collaborative Education major from Springville, Alabama. I work at the YMCA's after-school care program and have found that I enjoy working with upper elementary-aged kids. After graduating from Birmingham-Southern and receiving my teaching certification, I hope to find a job close to my hometown, teaching in upper elementary-aged students (3rd-6th grade).

I took this class to help fulfill a science credit for my teaching certification, but after reading the first chapter of Spillover, I am excited to learn more about more infectious diseases. The first chapter of Spillover has really sucked me in. The Hendra virus is not a disease I had ever heard of until this book, and I found it very interesting.

Like Emma Clare and Alexandra, I am also a multiple. I have a twin brother named Austin. Austin and my other three siblings are all either in the Air Force or married to someone in the Air Force. Having siblings in the military is cool because they live in and have visited some really beautiful places. My oldest brother, Spencer, and his family are stationed right outside of London, England. My sister, Tiffany, and her family are stationed in Las Vegas, Nevada. My older brother Jackson and his family are stationed in Destin, Florida. FINALLY, my twin brother, Austin, and his wife are stationed in Columbus, Mississippi. I have been lucky enough to visit some beautiful places because of my siblings!

If money and time were no object, I would want to travel to Italy. My brother and his wife traveled to Sienna, and the pictures they have shown me were beautiful.

Hi Abby! I am so excited to finally have another class with you! it has been a while. I am so glad you're going into the same field as all of us and we are going to have a great time working together in this class I can already tell. Same was you I took this course to fulfill a science credential for our teaching degree. And I was also sucked in by the first chapter of this book. I can not wait to learn more about the different diseases throughout the text. It seems very interesting. It is so crazy how there are three of you I am around a lot that are multiples. Sometimes I forget but that is incredible. Also, you definitely need to show me some of the beautiful pictures you talked about your siblings having because I need to be inspired to travel farther than outside the southeast of our country.

Hey Abby! Though I am not a twin, people say that my brother and I are twins. It is because we act so similar and look alike. We are separated by two of everything. We are born two years, two months and days apart, we have two letters in our name apart. Basically separated by twos of everything. I find it amazing that you want to work with elementary-aged kids and want to be a teacher. Where I grew up, most people I've talked to stated a field in science or mathematics. I have never met so many people wanting to pursue education as their major. Similar to you, I was sucked into Spillover from the first chapter though topics and diseases like this interest me.
