Hi! My name is Anna Kitchens and everyone just calls me Anna. I am a collaborative education major here at BSC. I was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama and my family currently lives in Homewood. After I graduate I hope to become an elemenatry school teacher somewhere in the Birmingham area. Although I am not certain the exact grade I want to teach yet I am thinking kindergarten or first grade. As I go through this course I hope to learn more about infectious diseases and the impact they have on countries that do not have the medical advancements that we are provided with in the US. I have always wanted to go on a mission trip out of the country so this course may also give me ideas on areas I would be interested in visiting to do mission work in. I am one of five kids in my family. I have one brother and three sisters, and I am the second to youngest. If I could go anywhere in the world I would go to Iceland. I have always had a fascination in stars. My favorite thing to do in the summer when we are at the lake is to go out on our dock and stargaze. I think they are just so fascinating. With that being said, I have always wanted to see the Northern Lights and I know Iceland is one of the countries that you can see them in. I think that it would be an awesome experience.
Hey Anna! I think it’s so cool that you want to teach kindergarten or first grade because I love kids and that’s my favorite age group. It’s also super cool you’ve always wanted to go on a mission trip because I’ve always wanted to go to Haiti for that same reason! I think learning about countries that don’t have as much as us as far as medical advancements go will not only make us realize how fortunate we are, but we can also find ways to help them. I think stars are super pretty but I don’t really know much about them.
