My virus’s name is the Vespa virus. Vespa is Latin for the word wasp. The host of this virus is wasps. This includes all types of wasps: hornets, yellow jackets, and many more. The wasps can spread their diseases to humans. The symptoms include fever, rash, headache, vomiting, diarrhea, and respiratory problems. The humans that got stung have a huge bump on their arm from the sting. The only way the virus can be stopped is by eliminating the whole wasp population. This disease would have an RNA genome, that way it can mutate much faster. This virus is spread from reservoir host, wasp, to humans by essentially stinging them. Once a person is stung, it will act as a regular bee sting for two days before symptoms start appearing. The person who has this virus can affect other people from skin to skin contact. The wasps are born with this disease but they do not have the symptoms of it. The reservoir host (wasp) dies after stinging a human. The human usually dies a week or two after being stung by the wasp. The only was the stop the virus is by eliminating the entire wasp population because if they aren’t all killed they will have the virus and have a way of making the virus become active again. Wasps die from pesticide exposure. The only way to save the humans from all dying from the Vespa virus is by giving them a certain antidote shot so it will counteract the virus. The disease has to be caught early enough for the antidote to work.

This new disease could be really troublesome since wasps tend to sting people relatively often and that’s how the disease is transmitted. The fact that the disease could be spread person to person by contact is a big problem because now the disease is not only transmittable by wasps but also people. In addition, the fact that you’d have to kill off the entire wasp population is concerning since they’re wild and hard to track down and that would make it almost impossible to eliminate the disease entirely. I guess one good thing about the disease is the fact that the wasp dies after infecting one human. Although humans can infect other humans, a wasp can only infect one person.
