As I saw the video, it constantly struck my mind that this probably could happen again in the world with a more massive coverage due to the fact that the world is becoming a global village and the different parts are getting more and more accessible. However, with the technology and advancement in science, the flu is too old to be emerging stronger. The scientists are more accustomed to treating and creating vaccines for influenza. It also adds to the fact that the case fatality rate was only twenty percent.
On the other hand, I did my paper and presentation on Nipah virus infection. After the papers, Nipah virus is an underestimated virus. With a seventy five percent case fatality rate, Nipah is highly dangerous. (Raj Kumar Singh, 2019) The author Raj Kumar Singh et. al. also brings up that the new outbreaks are randomized, other than the fact that it depends on bat population and roosting areas. ( Raj Kumar Singh, 2019) Nipah Virus infection is also under-researched as the authorities do not want to invest into it because of the random outbreak lists. Nipah virus infection is also listed into the category C bioterrorism agent.( So, I believe since nipah doesn’t have a cure yet, it probably could be the next big one.
