Hi friends! My name is Elizabeth Hale and I am a health science major. I am from Birmingham AL and I went to mountain brook high school. At first I thought I was going to hate being in Birmingham for college but I have actually loved it! It's been the biggest blessing. I have loved showing my friends all the hidden gems that Birmingham has to offer! So I am on the UAB BSC nursing track here at BSC. I will graduate with my masters in nursing and get my MSN. Once I graduate from nursing school I would love to be a missionary nurse for a little bit and even a traveling nurse working in the ICU. I want to work in the ICU so I can go to CRNA school and become a nurse anesthetist. My dad is an anesthesiologist and so was my grandma! I have always wanted to go in to the medical field because I have been exposed to medicine for practically my whole life. It has always been something that I am super interested in. I am super excited about this class because I've always been interested in genetics and how things get passed down but I have never fully understood the concept. I would also love to learn more about the HIV 1 and 2 strands and the results of the CRISPR thing where they delete the HIV strands. A little neat fact about my life is that I am colorblind! I have a blended family and what is funny is that my dad, twin brother, and older brother are colorblind but also my 4 step brothers are too! They have no relation to us so it is very coincidental that we are all red green colorblind. Traveling is probably one of my very favorite things to do but it's so expensive. I would love to go to Iceland, Israel, or back to Italy! It's on my bucket list to go to all the continents.
Hi Elizabeth! I am so excited that we want to pursue the same career! It is so nice knowing that someone will be there with you for the entire nursing experience. I hope that we can be in the same CRNA school together! I think it is so neat that your dad is an anesthesiologist. Does he work in Birmingham? I think Iceland and Israel are such great places to want to visit. I have heard amazing things about Israel and I have heard that Iceland is beautiful. I think that Italy is a wonderful place to visit as well. Do you have a favorite city? Mine is Venice. The town is so cute and I love that all the houses and stores are surrounded by water. One of my favorite things about Italy is that people can walk everywhere they need to go as well.

Hey Elizabeth! I think it’s pretty cool that you’re from Birmingham because it honestly has become one of my favorite cities. I would love to sit and talk with you about some of the fun activities to do in the city! I love your career plan. You seem very organized and passionate about what you want to do! It’s also super cool that you want to be a missionary nurse because that’s exactly what I want to do as well! Do you have an idea of what countries you would want to go on a medical mission to? Uganda has my heart. Also, I had no idea that you were colorblind! I don’t know how the genetics work behind that trait but it blows my mind that that much of your family is colorblind as well.

Hi Elizabeth! I am so glad you do like BSC or we would never have been friends! I am color blind too but it's interesting that you are because it is way more common in males. I'm sure you understand all of the struggles that come with matching clothes when you can't see the colors! It is so crazy that your whole family is color blind too! I saw that you want to go to Israel and I've been there before. It was one of the most amazing experiences ever and I would tell everyone to go at least once in their lifetime.

Hey Elizabeth! I was definitely thinking the same thing about Birmingham when I first got here, but once I got here the city really opened itself up to me. I am also on the UAB BSC nursing track and I want to become an emergency room nurse in a couple of years and then go off to become a nurse practitioner. It is so cool that your dad and grandma were anesthesiologists and that you want to follow in their footsteps. It is very exciting to meet people who have the same passion for healthcare that I do and I am so happy to be in this class with you !
