Hey everyone! My name is Lauren, and I am a sophomore biology major with a chemistry minor from Pensacola, Florida. I lived in Pensacola my entire life, and I decided to come to Birmingham-Southern because it is the same college my mom attended. When I initially toured the school, I wasn’t expecting to like it, but I was so impressed with all that BSC had to offer. After I graduate, I plan to go to dental school, but I don’t know which dental school quite yet. Right now, I want to leave the south because it’s the only region I have ever lived, but we’ll see what happens. To be honest, I didn’t really know what to expect when I signed up for this course, but I am very interested in the relationship between nutrition and genetics. Specifically, I am curious about intermittent fasting because my mom and a few other people I know practice it. I would love to learn about the genetic science behind it, but I don’t know if I would ever be able to actually do it, because if I don’t eat, I get very hangry. I’m one of those people who has a really hard time thinking of an interesting fact about themselves, so I’ll just talk about my dog instead. I have a four-year-old black and white Australian Shepherd named Cali, and I am very excited because I am going home to visit her (and my family) this weekend. If money and time were no object, I would go on a skiing vacation. My favorite places to go skiing are Big Sky, Montana and Lake Tahoe. I absolutely love skiing because it is very stress-relieving for me.
