I barely considered it because my back-up plan in case I can't get pregnant is adoption, though the process for that can also be pretty arduous. When you say chances of losing the baby, are you referring to overall infant mortality, miscarriage, or spontaneous abortion?
I totally agree with you on the importance of the mother having good medical care throughout the pregnancy. In Georgia, we actually offer free prenatal care to mothers who can't afford it, but it's still challenging to provide medical care to women in rural areas. Children born in rural areas still tend to have worse health outcomes.
