For the past few years, DNA commercials from genetic companies such as 23 & me and Genos have been on the rise and on the surface of social media. I’ve always been interested in genetic testing because I’ve always wanted to know if I had a genetic mutation or always wanted to know the “truth” about my genes. An individual curious about their genes would go buy a DNA test kit from whatever company you want to use. Then the directions says collect your saliva into a tube. From collecting your saliva in a test tube then the geneticists will get DNA from the cells in your saliva sample and they analyze it and are able to read the variants in your DNA. After everything is analyzed, they collect all of the data and then send every piece of information to you. If I found out the “truth” about my genes, I don't think I would let it affect me depending on what the results said. Yes, I would live differently if I knew I had a genetic mutation that resulted in an early death. I would live everyday like it's my last. I would want to know more about the genetic mutation I have. The valuable information I just signed over to the genetic testing company, I would want them to use it for good and to find cures for various diseases. I would want my life and health insurance companies to know so my family wouldn't be in a situation where they couldn't pay for some if I did die early.
