I agree with Ogle's quote because I think new teachers come in just worrying about teaching the curriculum. These new teachers do not have relationships with their students like teachers who have been doing this for a while would have, so I think they just focus on getting the content out. The really good teachers are able to do both. They are able to get the content out to their students but also focus on if their students are actually learning. I think that the ability to be able to do both comes from experience and being able to talk to people and learn what they did to make them successful. Another reason I agree with this is, in high school since we did not have final exams I would memorize stuff to do well and the test, and then I would just get rid of it and did not care whether or not I learned anything or not. I would say I did not learn how to actually learn until I got to BSC and realized I can't spend 1-2 hours a week on something and say that I know it.
