Lately, the rise of resurrecting previously extinct species has been on a rise making a lot of progressive in the last couple of years. The CRISPR/ Cas 9 gene splicing system played a major part in this process. CRISPR is a genetic tool which is a revolution in the science of genetic engineering. CRISPR enables scientists to easily and precisely edit the DNA of any genome. CRISPR stands for Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats. Wooly Mammoth roamed the earth 10,000 years ago, and since the scientists are fascinated with bringing them back. Scientists used something called synthetic biology, which the wooly mammoth genes are going to be spliced with the ones of the Asian elephant, which also is going to produce a hybrid of a mammoth- elephant. I feel like people would bring the woolly mammoth back because of the familiar similarities to Asian elephants and for the fact that they can. The disadvantages to bringing them back is that they can have so type of mutation or even some type of disease and also be dangerous or possibly even take from other animals causing them to be extinct. Many scientists wants to bring them back for many reasons. One reason that stood out to me was that it can protect and care for Asian elephants  from hunters.

Hey Taylor, I didn’t even think about the new hybrid bringing disease into the world. This could cause a lot of problems. The mammoth that they take the DNA/genes from could be infected with something and using its blood could be dangerous to the new hybrid and other animals that might be around it. The hybrid could also not be immune to a lot of the diseases on the earth right now. The environment changes so much that the diseases that were common than are probably not a thing anymore. The hybrid could die from disease that other animals have because it is not use to them.
