Members in my family have suffered from chronic pain. My dad use to race dirt bikes professionally and now that he’s getting older, he has shown signs of being in more and more pain. His body has just been beat up and bruised a lot throughout his racing career, where it’s hard for him to get around like he use to without any pain and it’s mainly in his shoulder and knee (which he’s had both replaced). One of the biggest unhealthy way to deal with chronic pain is to turn to opioids or other types of pain killers. Peoples diets can also be another contributing factor. If your body isn’t getting the right nutrients, then it can’t recover and people may not feel any better. Another factor is stress, being in more stressful situations or having a job that puts a lot of unwanted stress on a person’s body can release more nociceptin causing more pain. Doctors have been doing research on neurostimulation therapy that works by changing pain signals when they are being sent to the brain. It helps with the pain management and I’ve talked about getting it before for my shoulder and think it could be something that’s useful. Two that’s basically free of cost that could help is meditation and mobility. Being in a better mindset relieves stress and allows you to be more mobile with proper breathing techniques that can be found on YouTube or going to yoga class. Pain killers can inhibit more sensation of pain when taken often. This being because for the time they’re “working” it numbing your body. However, once they start to wear off, it becomes more painful since you became accustomed to that “high” this is why people can become addicted to pain killers. Physiological factors play a big role in people’s pain in society. Often times people who are depressed or even just feeling down, tend to have more pain because of the stress that’s being put on their body. This can cause overt behavior and you can tell by someone’s actions how they are feeling by how they act or walk. They can let off cues showing their weakness and people in society tend to pick up.
