If I had to picture
my life this way, I would want to have a nursing degree and travel the world
for 365 days to treat people who couldn’t afford good health care and/ or treat
the homeless. In this case, I would want to travel to the big, popular, pretty
cities, but if I wanted to help the less fortunate and homeless then I would
need to focus on the poorer cities. I would want to go to New York, New Orleans,
Africa, Haiti, Mexico City, Rome, India, Japan, Germany, and Austria. Some of
these places would not have the best site seeing view but for my job it would
not matter about that. What would matter is helping the less fortunate in that
city that really need the medical attention. I feel like this would make me
view life very differently. It would make me realize that what we have here in
the U.S. for medical attention is a lot better than most places. I think it
would make me a great nurse because I would view the quality of life differently.
I would realize that being able to see a doctor and get medicine for something
as simple as a cold is something that we might take for granted.

Hey Mackenzie-
I think it is really admirable that you would want to spend your year of traveling to help those that are less fortunate than those of us who have easy access to healthcare. I think that is definitely something we take advantage of every day without even realizing it. I mean, it is crazy to think that in some parts of the world, and even right inside our hometowns, that there are people who do not have access to things like Tylenol, much less preventative care and testing. Even when we are on campus, the C-Store stays stocked with Sudafed and other medicines that we can use to treat our symptoms; this is a luxury that people in less developed nations could never imagine.

Hey Mackenzie! Wow! I also said that I wanted to be a traveling nurse! I would love to travel to all those places and more- this experiment was hard for me to pick a top 10. I think it's awesome that you want to spend your time helping others! I feel like those places would have a lot of hidden gems you could find and you'll end up falling in love with the city you're in! I also agree that this experience would help us realize the advantages we have in the US in regards to medical attention and make us feel much more grateful!

Hey MacKenzie! I think it is really admirable of you to want and spend your time making sure people of disadvantaged cities had better access to health care. I agree that serving in different places would make us realize that although the U.S is not perfect in terms of health care and general access to it, it is a blessing that not everyone is afforded. That experience would definitely strengthen your skills as a nurse because you would have to think on your feet more since there would be a decrease in resources. I honestly think that this is something every healthcare professional should be able to do because it would remind everyone to serve with humility.

Hey Mackenzie !
I think it is very admirable that you want to treat and care for the people that are less fortunate and can't afford the right health care. I said the same thing about wanting to be a traveling nurse for 365 days. Like my fellow classmates have said w take advantage of that everyday without knowing it. I wish I could help the countries now especially , because of the COVID-19 . Some countries or even some places in the US don't have the proper medical care and can't do anything but hope for a miracle.
