This scenario is a literal dream of mine. What I actually plan on doing after I graduate from BSC is going into the field and working for different researchers as a field technician. I want to do some ecological research or conservation work in the future, but I don't yet know what I want my specialty to be. I will spend about a year with each project, be they about the role of mushrooms on the forest floor, or the populations of spider monkeys in South America. Most likely, I won't get to do anything as exciting as that right away, but a girl can dream. Hopefully, after working with several different researchers, I will determine what I am passionate about specifically and go to grad school.
In my dream scenario, I would get to work with a different group of ecologists, conservationists, and wildlife biologists each week in a different part of the world and learn about what they are doing and doing what I can to assist. Definitely not realistic, but that's not what we are going for here.
My top ten places I want to visit (not in order) are returning to Japan and the Galapagos Islands, Copenhagen, the Florida Everglades, the Ivory Coast, Ireland, Scotland, Australia, the Amazon rainforest, and Italy.
I love to travel, and to me, it isn't so important that I hit all the places on my list. I know that wherever I go, there is a rich history and culture that I can learn about and respect. I don't think it is possible to travel to a new place and not be affected by its people and what it has to offer. Every time I am fortunate to visit somewhere new, I gain a broader perspective of the world we live in.
