This third video combined many of the lessons learned in the previous videos and showed how they have been applied and recognized in modern times. One example of this was the influence of photography on the perception of the Vietnam War compared to the Gulf War. The photographs of dogs and water hoses being used in Birmingham during the Civil Rights movement encouraged media coverage to ensue, and the influence of photography may be seen in a similar fashion for the BLM movement. The main impact of photography on events is hard to put into words. Stories told even in complex and intimate language do not deliver the same effect of a photograph, and I would argue the same is true even for videos. The stories move too quickly, but a still photo is a frozen point in time. You notice features that make that moment become something surreal. It is strange to think of pictures like this, but they are a point in time that can be analyzed into eternity. Before I get too metaphysical, though, I think the sentiment of photos being about perspective rings true. It is essential to realize that while the camera itself may not lie, it can only capture an angle of a story.
