Readers,

We’ll meet in person today.

I know everything is a challenge with some of you having to isolate and quarantine. The rest of us are grateful to you for keeping us safe. Welcome back to those who have been released to attend class! For those of you still in quarantine, I have been recording and saving classes. I try to provide a lot of information about the stories in class, so I hope you are able to attend virtually if you can’t be with us in person.

For everyone, today we will be starting on our collection of stories that explore the initiation theme. We’ll discuss “A&P” by John Updike and “The Lesson” by Toni Cade Bambara today. Please read them before class today. They’re short!

I handed out a revised syllabus, suggested paper topics, and a list of pointers about writing papers about literature. If you’re unable to attend class and haven’t received these documents, please email me and I will send them to you.

I am sorry about the lame visual for those of you who are attending class virtually. At least I hope you can hear me. I am working with Information Technology to try to improve the virtual class.

Thank you to all of you for maintaining good nature in such hard times. I really appreciate it. Let me know if I can do anything to further help you to access the class.
