Most everybody has already said it, but this story is wrapped around the role of men and their examples of strength and bravery. Rama is in control of this story and seems to be the leader of the pack. He was exiled but was immediately established as a leader and continued to grow into that role until he eventually returned and claimed his kingdom. The men are in charge and Sits even had to go so far as to put herself into harms way to satisfy Rama's doubts.
