I thought that Larry Fink's book was an interesting read. The most useful text that I got from the readings was "Building the Box," which explains the rules for creating stories with the pictures. I also really connected to the quote on page 30: "Art, with a capital 'A,' happens when you enter a space and can see and feel the edges but not be enclosed by them." What I believe Fink is saying is that something can be Art if you keep your mind opened, which is something that I try to do. I was fascinated by the photo on page 39 of Belly-Dancing School because when I first just flipped through the book, I honestly thought that this was the corpse of a young girl- or a girl posing as a corpse- covered for her funeral. Then, I actually read the book, and discovered that this was just a belly-dancer student on break. I thought that it was fascinating that without context, my brain came up with its own narrative of what was happening with the picture, and that is what I love about photography.
