Explorations in Religious Identity (RE 300 WR)

During the Crash course video there are some things that they get right and some they get wrong. However, this is the case with most crash course videos in my opinion due to the fact that it is a very rushed and brief description of the topic of choice. One of the things they get wrong is how Rama is born with blue skin. The reason for this blue skin is because he is a divine being. Another instance that they get wrong is how Hanuman can fly. He actually jumps so far that he can go to different places. The crash course video does get many things right however such as how Rama strings Sita's bow and the main philosophies and heroic aspects of the Ramayana. I think that the reason this is placed under mythology rather than history is simply because this is done by a Western company instead of someone who actually practices Hinduism. If it was done by someone who practiced Hinduism then it would be labeled as History instead of mythology for the simple fact that they are practicing Hinduism.
