I’m examining the role of women in the Christian narrative as exemplified by Lilith and Eve, so I was particularly drawn to Sīta’s story most prominently her role as a submissive women acting as a pawn in Rama’s  story. That is why I particularly enjoyed Sita Sings The Blues and Yes to Sita, No To Ram which showcased the different ways Sita can be used depending on how the author wishes to portray her.

These readings have made me reconsider how much influence the reader themselves has on the interpretation of the work. We decide what the work means to us even if it is completely different than the author’s original intent. It connects to my essay because it’s all about how Lilith can be interpreted differently depending on how you want to see her.

Another thing that I’ve considered because of these readings is the importance of women in the narrative. Their placement can completely change the meaning of the story and how women perceive themselves which was what inspired me to write about Lilith originally.
