My research paper is on the story of Rahab from the book of Joshua in the Bible. In traditional feminist biblical scholarship Rahab is represented as a hero and a role model for feminism. In a post colonial interpretation, however, Rahab is a victim of colonizers. Though it was not a reading, I found the film "Sita Sings the Blues" to be a good way to think of the story of Rahab. It offered interpretations that differed from what we read. It showed people from different backgrounds and how they understood the story differently. Furthermore, it showed Sita through a women's point of view. I think that is vital since she is a woman as is Rahab in my paper.
Additionally, I also found the reading Many Ramayanas and it's focus on women to compliment my paper. It showed how people's interpretation relies on the cultural environment they live in.
