Before:

  1. Intro

  2. Historical Context

  3.  Christian Scriptures

  4.  Synods and Councils

  5.  Setting Boundaries

  6.  Protestant Reformation and America

  7.  Early America to the 1900s

  8.  The 1900s

  9.  Modern Interactions

  10.  Conclusions

As per the comments made on my rough draft, I think with revisions, I will rearrange my paper as follows:

  1.  Introduction

  2. Historical Context

  3. Ambivalence in bible

  4.  Pauline writings

  5.  Councils

  6. Early America

  7.  1900s

  8.  Modern

I hope with this format, I will be able to highlight useful information that serves my thesis and does not detract from my argument. I acknowledge that the early sections of my paper could be condensed and reconstructed for clarity.

Cosette,
The second outline looks much better and easier to approach. It also just seems to make more sense overall, and having less bullet points makes it seem much less daunting. Good stuff!

Oh I like the second edit, particularly because you make space to focus on the Pauline writings, which I know say some significant things re:your topic. I also think your paper would benefit from the discussion of ambivalence in the Bible, because it is not a black and white text (as much as I sometimes wished it was).

Cosette,
I like your second outline because of the last three parts. I think chronological order is the most easy to follow and will add a degree of clarity to your paper that it did not have before.

Hey Cosette, I really like where you placed the council in your second version. I think that will be a good way to flow into the chronological examination and show the impact the council has.
