Before: Throughout the Bible women are not represented as men’s equals. They are second to men in every way. Stories of women in the Bible are the minority. The stories that are presented are frequently placing women in a negative light.

After: Women are mentioned throughout the Bible. They are given the equal representation and rights as the men are. If this were not the case then why would people be familiar with characters like Rahab, Mary Magdalene, Ruth, Bathsheba, or Eve? All of these women are important figures in the Bible. Yes there is some scandal associated with them, however there is scandal associated with men as well.

The after sounds better because instead of "women" you are giving specific cases. this helps a lot in people who might be a little weary as to reading the sentence. You acknowledge the scandal but then give an antithesis to that and it really works well! good job!!

I think "equal representation" might be overstating it.
