For decades the story of Rahab has been read from a western feminist perspective. Rahab has consequently been seen as a female who acted with autonomy in the Bible, a rare occurrence. This interpretation has been challenged, however by those who view Rahab in a post-colonial interpretation. This paper examines how the differing interpretations of this one character reverberate and affect the interpretations throughout not only the book of Joshua, but also the gospel of Matthew, and the books of Hebrews and James. Furthermore, the paper questions Rahab's role in feminist literature.
