The baptism of Jesus is a very important story for the way that baptism is practiced today. Each of the Gospels tell this story differently, and this is why there are so many different interpretations and ways to practice the sacrament. However, there are a lot of details in Jesus' baptism that are just accepted without question. This also leads to the differing interpretations. For such a significant practice within the Christian Church, there is a lot of disagreement about how and why baptism is practiced.
