After a research group in Antarctica came across an extraterrestrial being, unlike anything that they had seen before, The Thing began to dive into the world of getting rid of the creature before it set out on a quest to demolish the entire human race. MacReady was unsure if the alien was actually gone after he blew up the military base, but nonetheless they were able to get rid of it. The Ring was a movie that involved people dying after they watched a specific video tape. The young girl who was responsible for haunting those that watched it eventually halted after she was able to free herself from her own problems. After, it was discovered that making another video would cause the old video from haunting those who viewed it. I liked the Ring and the use of an unorthodox child to create a haunted vibe. The mysterious girl, Samara, caused death to all who came across her taped. The older individuals were so captivated with trying to discover the secret of the tape, that she was able to draw these people in and ultimately lead them straight to their demise. Anyone who came across her videos was able to see the pain and anguish that she went through. This in turn, pushed one of the characters, Rachel, to dive further into the past of Samara and find out what made her feel the pain that she felt. Being that the young girl had left issues on Earth before departing spiritual, Rachel was forced to find her body and find a way to liberate her. She was never able to find peace and tried to make as many people go through sorrow with her as she could. Let Me In was interesting, but it was somewhat unrealistic. There were several horror aspects and Abby were able to kill the two boys that bullied Owen. However, I felt the ending was not well put together. The whore “ride off into the sunset” scene was cute, but I don’t really understand how someone that age is supposed to survive without their parents. Nonetheless, the plot and overall love and hoor combination was cute and well put together. Remaking certain hoor stories is somewhat challenge. Upon remaking anu film. It is vital to provide information that is close to the original and equally as appealing. Attempting to make an already scary story equally or even more scary is not as easy due to the type of genre. The constant shift in the audience results in the director having to take old concepts that were once scary and give it a more modern outlook. Aside from this, it is easy for horror stories to fall into the cliché remake category and lose the interest of the audience. Though the original may have been popular, there may be certain elements that only the prototype can have. If the remake flops, it could result in not only a monetary loss, but a creative hinderance to the individual who created that particular movie.
