After reading the article, I never realized how monumental and helpful crafting could be. As a whole all the ideas/themes were very intriguing. However, the main one that was quite more fascinating than the others was the “Yarn Mission”. It personally stood out the most; that is because many people may feel vulnerable when talking about crucial times and by simply knitting in a circle was as if there was no such thing as vulnerability. Owner of a yarn store in Baltimore stated that politics is something that should not be discussed in the yarn store, I immensely agree. People are entitled to their own opinions and beliefs but they should also feel like they have a safe place if the same love for a hobby is shared, regardless of their opinions and beliefs. My perspective on crafts has definitely been shifted. The initial thought of activism was as simple as marches, petitions, etc. As well as knitting, almost stereotyped into being a hobby only for older women. It is amazing how two completely different subjects can be united as something meaningful to spread awareness.
