Kitting as Dessent

This idea of Kitting being a predominant women's activity, was one that resonated with me as when I think of knitting I think of my grandmother knitting me socks and a hat when I was younger. However, this great impact and need for knitting during the revolutionary war and civil war, lead me to my thought of why has it been overlooked for such a long time and why its importance was overlooked. Especially in the instance that women could easily slip past enemies as they were not seen as threats, but in reality could talk to the army, as well as replenish their clothing.

Lastly, the biggest thing the reading got me thinking about is since we overlooked the skill earlier in the past is it still overlooked to a degree, and or is it society that is not bringing the importance of knitting in all its aspects to the attention of people?
