When reading “Knitting as Dissent” its main focus was how a women’s job was to stay in the home. It would also talk about how these in-home jobs could be seen as demeaning tasks. With me being a history major it was shown early what the women’s place is in the world. I think the interesting thing that we are all starting to see those women even though they were told to stay behind a man they were the main reason that men could do what needed to be done. Especially during war times. “Knitting as Dissent” explains this is the deep context it quotes that “In the lowest moments of the war, with especially unfortunate soldiers reportedly going naked, some industrious women would round up blankets, yarn, and worn-out clothing which they would patch and darn, unravel and knit into “new” stockings, shirts, breeches, and blankets.”  Shows that knitting/crocheting/sewing can all be forms of political activism.
