For the readings about how knitting can be used in radical movements such as Black Lives Matter, I find it very interesting how one of the articles focus on it being looked at as A "white woman's activity." Much like we all discussed at the beginning of this class, we all know the stereotype placed on knitting as an old lady activity, but the second stereotype that usually comes to mind involving this activity is race. Before reading that article I hadn't considered the fact that I have heard some of these biases surrounding knitting as another difference that is placed on us racially. I feel more young people of all races besides black are comfortable sharing information about their creative activities that are outside the social norms. I feel this is because the black community quickly out anyone who is doing anything that could make them seem less black even though race should not have anything to do with activities people choose to partake in. This is something we need to work on and do better by.
