This week, we have read different articles about craftivism and knitting / crocheting. I have learned that knitting can be used to actually bring change or simply start a discussion. The article on “Ferguson’s radical knitters” , focuses on the group “The Yarn Mission” who formed in response to police brutality in Ferguson Misourri. The group uses yarn to “promote action and change to eradicate racism, sexism, and other systems of oppression”.  Knitting is such an inviting way to start a conversation with someone..I think the group had a great idea! Just getting people talking is absolutely making a difference. Another one of the articles pointed out that knitting is typically seen as a “white  woman’s activity” , which is something I hadn’t thought much about.
