The reading for today, especially about how knitting can, at times, be used in radical movements. An example of such a movement can be the Black Lives Matter. Most of our readings are focused on knitting being a white women’s activity. And even in class, we discuss the stereotypes placed on knitting as it is more likely to be used by older people in that it also has no significant role within activism. Even though we know these biases and stereotypes are well-known, it doesn’t affect the young people of the generation that it is now more common for the younger group of people to express themselves creatively in activities that are outside social norms.
