The use of knitting in an analytical context by illustrating climate change in a visual and tangible fashion allows for people who are not involved in the sciences to visualize how our climate is changing over time. As a person whose learning style is very focused on visualizing concepts, creating a physical record of climate change that is easy to look at allows for more people to understand and converse about climate change and I strongly feel like this kind of record keeping could possibly be applied other things. This representation of climate change allows for this topic to be more accessible to people who do not understand the technical analysis behind the data given for air quality, pollution, temperature, and other variables of climate change and allows for people to enter this conversation more easily. I feel as though allowing people to participate in this conversation by asking questions about the knitting work makes it a more accessible topic for people to discuss while simultaneously creating awareness for this issue and bringing more people to care about it. I also really liked that some of the proceeds from the yarn work were donated to help preserve national parks and I wonder how other organizations could use a similar method to raise money for other good causes of their choosing.
