I am glad the knitters are also highlighting issues like climate change because knitting and art can be a very symbolic outlet for the matter. I am super data driven, so I found it interesting how they use the data symbolically with colors to create scarves. The scarves speak for themselves. The article from the craftivism textbook was very interesting in actually using the beach debris in her work. I wonder if there is a way, also, that one could use the trash and plastic found, melt it down, and use that to knit in some way. The article about the “raging grannies” was humorous but also important to note that age is not a boundary in standing up for what is important. I did notice, however, that the pictures included in the article were of the stereotypical older white “grannie,” and I wonder if they have efforts to create a diverse group of raging grannies.
