It was interesting to learn about the origins of the quilt and how it came to be an important object through time. For one particular piece of art to be incorporated throughout time it is assumed to be exceptionally important. Another thing that I took interest in was how big the actual quilt is. There are several aspects incorporated such as panels, names, and fabric. The author mentions briefly about how massive this piece really is. I learned about the importance of texture and the magnitude that it holds for viewers. The texture of a piece allows the viewer to assume its origin. Overall, I learned about how a piece of art can be used to bring about awareness of a particular cause and how its effectiveness really is. It showed me that there are many approaches in tackling an issue but some are better tactics than others.
