For my reading, I chose to look at “Remains of the aids quilt.” The first thing that intrigued me was the detail that was masterfully pulled off by the people who made this quilt. This intrigues me because it is almost like looking at a real human covered by a blanket when looking at this. The article also got me thinking about how cool it was to bring light to a disease such as AIDS and not have a negative outlook on the matter but create something that really means something. Another really cool thing Is that they are roping in things like feminism and other causes on the quilt, so the quilt brings light to many matters that would otherwise forget about.
Ben similar to you I was very interested in the way they brought to light AIDS, as many people view it in a negative light. However, the outcry of negativity this got from certain people surprised me in the sense that they didn't like how it showed the illness. I will add though how interesting it is to look at the squares themselves and how each is put together and the time it takes to do this, especially after making a square that had very little detail. I will end by saying it is incredible to me to gather an understanding of craftivism that I had once never even thought about.
