It is amazing to me that something a collection of quilts could be such a big part of the memorialization of an epidemic. It is similar to our own class project in that we are trying to create a visual representation of those that died from COVID-19 pandemic. I can see why the quilts would be so powerful, because instead of just thinking of numbers you get a visual of the impact the disease had on human lives. The book describes the project as “a catalyst of healing, a site of public grief, and a political act. I hope that our project will be able to effect the people in our community in a similar way to how these quilts did.
