This was an interesting article to me because I never knew the activism or craftivism behind. How they made the quilt reminds me of right now during pandemic times where we have to separately make squares and send it to each other, this quilt for the AIDS virus was made the same, but it was sent across the country while it was being made. What was really thought-provoking was how there was pushback from some people saying that they were idolizing the epidemic with the quilt. Craftivism never comes from a place of idolizing the bad, it comes from wanting to make change and or a statement that will bring attention to those causes. It makes me think about our final project; will people be upset because they think we are idolizing the pandemic, or will people look at the mask and see a message about change and hope? It is interesting because you only have control when you make the art, not when someone interprets it.
